About Alexis
Alexis is the founder of The Zen Den Counseling and Wellness and a dedicated individual and family therapist with several years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Throughout her career, Alexis has provided therapeutic support in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, nonprofits, community mental health clinics, residential treatment centers, and private practices. Her extensive experience across these diverse environments has equipped her with a broad and adaptable skill set to effectively support clients from all walks of life.
As a first-generation Caribbean American, Alexis brings a culturally informed and compassionate approach to therapy. She has had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, as well as clients with varying gender identities and economic statuses. This multicultural experience allows Alexis to approach therapy with sensitivity and respect for each client’s unique identity and life experiences. Alexis is particularly skilled in the areas of child and adolescent therapy and is a dedicated doctoral student whose academic research focuses on the impact of childhood trauma and attachment stress across the lifespan as well as how culture impacts these concerns
Alexis is a trauma-informed therapist with a deep understanding of the lasting impact trauma can have on an individual’s mental health and wellbeing. She is also a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and strives to create a safe, inclusive environment for all her clients. Alexis is trained in several therapeutic modalities and is a Level 1 trained Attachment-Based Family Therapist, as well as trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), allowing her to tailor her approach to best meet the needs of each individual client.
The founding of The Zen Den Counseling and Wellness was driven by Alexis’s desire to create a space for personalized therapy care, dedicated to fostering peace, healing, and overall wellbeing. Her approach focuses on discovering the root causes of distress, often treating not only the individual client but also addressing family dynamics to promote holistic healing. Alexis is passionate about guiding her clients on their journeys toward greater emotional and mental balance, helping them achieve lasting transformation in both their personal and family lives.
