Therapeutic Approach

James's therapeutic approach is primarily a hybrid of Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy (with children) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  He is also extensively trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a modality designed for children and teens who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT is evidence-based to be effective from ages 3-19.  Additionally, his therapeutic approach pulls influence from other modalities, including Adlerian Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Reality Therapy, as well as interventions from an even wider array of modalities.
